Using Webhooks

Welcome to today's guide!

We'll walk through how to capture leads from Fable, an interactive demo creation tool, and integrate them seamlessly into Pabbly Connect. This process uses webhooks, a powerful yet often misunderstood technology. But don't worry, we'll break it down step by step.

What You'll Learn:

  1. What is a Webhook?
  2. Setting up Fable for Lead Capture
  3. Integrating Fable with Pabbly Connect

What is a Webhook?

A webhook is essentially a way for one application to send real-time data to another application whenever a specific event occurs. In this case, we’ll set up Fable to send lead data to Pabbly Connect whenever a form is submitted.

Step-by-Step Guide to Integrate Fable with Pabbly Connect

Step 1: Accessing the Custom App

To get started, you'll need a custom app specifically designed for this integration. You can download it from my store at store.integrationlab.in. Search for "Fable" and download the app. I've also provided the link in the description of my video on Integration Lab's YouTube channel.

Step 2: Setting Up the Trigger in Pabbly Connect

Once you have the app, open your Pabbly Connect account and add it as a trigger app. This means it will be the first step in your workflow.

  1. Copy the provided Webhook URL.
  2. Go to the integration settings in your Fable account.
  3. Click on "Webhook" and paste your URL.
  4. Select the trigger: "Create or Update Contact".

Step 3: Updating the Request Body

The request body may need some updates:

  1. Open the JSON structure of your form in a tool like jsonlint.com to validate it.
  2. Ensure all fields you want to capture, such as mobile numbers or custom fields, are correctly added. Each new field should follow the JSON format, with the key on the left side and the value on the right.

Step 4: Testing the Integration

  1. Set up a demo lead form on Fable.
  2. Add necessary fields, including any custom fields.
  3. Paste the Webhook URL into the form settings.
  4. Save and close the settings.

Step 5: Capturing Data

To test if the data is being captured correctly:

  1. Open the demo URL in an incognito window.
  2. Submit the form with test data.
  3. Check Pabbly Connect to see if the data, including the demo URL, is captured correctly.

Important Note:

Ensure there is an interaction step after the lead form submission in Fable. Without this, it may not be recognized as a valid lead submission.

Conclusion

Integrating Fable with Pabbly Connect using webhooks can significantly streamline your lead capture process. The custom app simplifies this integration, making it accessible even for those unfamiliar with webhooks.
